Fellows Program Limitations and Rules

  • No more than 5% of the SMPS total membership may be Fellows at any time.
  • There are no limitations on the number of Fellows per SMPS Chapter.
  • Jurors reserve the right to name no Fellows in a given year.
  • The Jurors' decision is final; there is no appeals process in this program.
  • The Fellow title is valid only for regular SMPS members, Weld Coxe Marketing Achievement Award winners, distinguished life members, and retired members in good standing.
  • Examples of how designation should be written “John Smith, FSMPS”.
  • One must remain an active SMPS member to be a Fellow. If membership lapses for more than 6 months the Fellow designation may no longer be used. Following an interruption in membership, if SMPS membership is subsequently reinstated, Fellow status will automatically be restored at the same time, at no additional charge to the renewing Fellow.
  • All new Fellows as of 2016 are required to maintain their CPSM designation to keep their Fellow status.
  • Fellows must agree and commit to all the SMPS member/volunteer policies including, but not limited to the SMPS Code of Conduct for SMPS events, and the SMPS Code of Ethics.
